This is Regina
As the owner of Houston’s iconic Events gifts in River Oaks Shopping Center, Regina Garcia’s retail career spans over four decades and is built on the principles of philanthropy, community connections and superior customer service. Born into an entrepreneurial family in Bay City, Texas, Garcia was raised in the environment of her family owned-and-operated restaurant, since 1944, ingraining in her the blueprint for her own success. There she learned the value of excellent customer service and quality of merchandise. Graduating from The Art Institute of Dallas with a degree in fashion merchandising and design, Garcia went on to hone her retail skills while working for Marshall Field’s stores across the country and rounded out her department store retail career as the VP, General Manager of multiple Macy’s locations—Macy’s The Woodlands, Deerbrook, West Oaks and Downtown Houston.
Garcia continues to expand her retail vision, providing her customers at Events Gifts with a luxurious store filled with specialty hand-picked gifts, as well as custom high-end stationery, an extensive bridal registry, and the largest collection of fine china and crystal in the State.
Garcia is and always has been passionate about education, the arts, and the environment and dedicates much of her time to the benefit of all three. She serves on the boards of multiple organizations as a director and/or a trustee including: Houston Arts Alliance; The Women’s Fund; United Way Women’s Alexis de Coquille Platinum Group, Houston; and the Downtown Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ3). She is also a longtime supporter of The Houston Ballet’s annual Nutcracker Market.
As owner and operator of Events gifts, Garcia was recognized with the Emerging Hispanic Business of the Year award in 2014 from The Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
“Most of all, I am so thankful and fortunate to have the opportunity to buy for You — my customers — providing you with the most beautiful gifts from around world, hand picked and unique, and often times exclusive. I hope you enjoy and if there is anything I can do to make your experience even better, please reach out to me. Let’s make memories together!”
History, The Events Experience
Events began in 1987 as a small gift boutique in Houston, Texas, and has become an iconic institution of its own. Big event for Events Gifts store: a move in 2018
Events, a staple of River Oaks Shopping Center selling luxury gifts, home items and stationery for 30 years, will get anew home in 2018.
The boutique, which carries such brands as Baccarat, Hermes, Lalique, Christofle, Michael Aram, Saint Louis and Crane’s, will continue to operate at the West Gray location through Feb. 1.
The locally owned retailer will move to a smaller store in the River Oaks area at 2439 Westheimer, east of Kirby Drive. The move comes as Weingarten Realty prepares to break ground on a 300-unit luxury residential tower on a portion of the shopping center that housed Local Pour and Café Ginger.
The nearby tower will be east of Events on West Gray at Driscoll Street.
“Our customers deserve the very best shopping experience we can offer and this new store will enable me to continue to provide easy access to the luxury gifts and service extras that has made Events a destination for discerning shoppers,” owner Regina Garcia said in an announcement.
At 4,307 square feet, the new store will be about two-thirds the size of the River Oaks Shopping Center location. Garcia cited the open layout as a way to better display merchandise. It also has a small catering kitchen, which fits Events’ plan to host more customer events in the future.
The new location, in the same center as Avalon Diner, will have ample parking. The store offers a selection of jewelry, crystal, china, accessories, art glass, stationery, gifts, collectibles, specialty albums, and frames.
“Our new location will enable us to continue provide Events’ luxury merchandise, signature concierge service, drive-up convenience, beautiful gift wrap and intriguing in-store events,” Garcia said.
Bill Schneidau, an independent broker, and Mark Davis of Davis Commercial secured the new location for the tenant. Brady Latimer of SCM Realty Services represented the owner of the Town West Center.
Plans for a grand opening at the new location are forthcoming. firstname.lastname@example.org twitter.com/kfeser
